Track trips
I have made countless passes down the track in this car but like I said before, something always breaks. When I bought it, it had been a trailer car that raced only so it had a great suspension already on it. Lucky for me, that saved me a lot of money.

The car had previously grenaded the blower motor so the previous owner was going to a totally different platform. He dropped a stout short block in the car and put it up for sale with a stock top end and bad tune. He was trying to sell it for six thousand but I showed up and showed him 4 in cash and he changed his mind. I had aquired a new mustang.

First things first of course, I took it to the track to see what it would da as it sat. Quite a dissapointing rip. Although the car had the low end of a bulldozer, it fell flat on its face shortly there after causing a 16 second pass at like 88 MPH. Now that won't even beat a Honda so soemthing had to be done. The engine was running rich on the top bad so adjusting some fuel pressure and opening up the plugs got it down to a 14.9 that night. Still not to good.

Next trip out I had Changed some tires on the back and put BFG Drag radials on(meaty 275/50's)and a short throw shifter to get rid of those missed shifts and it dropped me to a 14.3 at 95 with my first sub 2.0 60 ft time. Now I felt I was getting somewhere.

The car still lacked on the top end however so I bought a Crane PowerMax cam (E303 equivelent) with a 220 duration and .498 lift and took it back around 30 minutes after putting it in. That netted my first 13 second slip with the car. I had good weather conditions and averaged a 13.719 at 99 MPH with 1.8 60's. Left the car alone for a while because I was going to buy the 2002 and I needed to save up a little cash so no more track trips for a few months. Next cam the Compucar N2O though. After installing that and jetting it for 90HP(conservative, I was not sure how the car would hook)I took her back. The attempts to hook on the N2) were not happening since it was a 40 degree day and the track was cold so I ran a few more all motor passes just to work the car out. The first pass on the juice had killed my clutch when it finnaly hooked good though so I ran a 13.551 at 103MPH all motor that day with a horrid 60 of 2.3. I had great weather for a 12 second all motor pass that day by leaning the car out a little but it was not in the cards since I was trapping at 103 but at 6900 rpm's which is equivelent to 118 mph give or take a little. Clutch was just not having it. So there she sits right now waiting on a new Dual Friction clutch and Pressure Plate.
